President Bola Tinubu, on Thursday, appointed Ola Olukoyede, as the new chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Olukoyede is a Pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).
His appointment is subject to Senate’s confirmation.
The development followed the removal of the last ocuppant of the office of executive chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, some months ago for allegedly abusing his office.
Before now, Olukoyede had previously worked in the anti-graft commission in the background for years.
He is the first southerner to head EFCC since the creation of the anti-corruption agency. Ola Olukoyede hails from Ekiti State.
Olukoyede is also a Lawyer with over 22 years of experience as a regulatory compliance consultant and specialist in fraud management and corporate intelligence.
He has extensive experience in the operations of the EFCC, having served at different times as Chief of Staff to the acting chairman of the Commission, Ibrahim Magu (2016-2018), and Secretary to the Commission (2018-2023).
He earned his university education at the Lagos State University; University of Lagos; Institute of Arbitration ICC – Paris, France and University of Harvard (Kennedy School of Executive Education).
