Outrage As Betty Akeredolu, Abandon Mourning To Tackle Ex- Aide On Social Media

Olasunmibo Aboluwade, Abuja
Nigerians who read the reaction of Betty Anyanwu- Akeredolu, the wife of the late governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu to a post by Henry Adegbemile, her former aide, have wondered whether the former first lady was actually in a mourning mood.
Following the death of the governor, had taken to his Facebook page and wrote:
“If Betty has lost anything at this moment, it is POWER and definitely not AKETI. A woman so consumed with avarice, self- aggrandisement and narcissistic tendencies. I say what I know!”
Betty Anyanwu- Akeredolu, took some moment off from her mourning exercise to write:
“E tu Henry? O ga o! I never knew that somebody that worked under me with the worst work ethics could use so many inappropriate and despicable words to misrepresent me so badly!
“Aketi may be gone, and here I am, alone to face treacherous betrayals in their numbers but I’m not down and none of you born of a woman can bring me down!
“See me See wahala o! This is a boy with a terrible poor work ethics. An irresponsible and truant aide who didn’t take his duties seriously.
“(He was) Gallivanting all over the place in search of how to cut deals and make money as my erstwhile protocol officer, Wole was not cooperating.
“When he realised that I wasn’t interested in his fight against Wole though Wole had his own issues too, he resorted to using my office to dupe people.
“In one occasion was a phony rice cultivation programme in partnership with Dangote which I didn’t approve. That gave him out because the victim called my office to complain.
“I was enraged and summoned him to a meeting with Mrs Titi Adeyemi and Tope Daniyan where he admitted to the fraud and apologised.
“As expected, he was dropped as SA special duties in the 2nd term. Good riddance to bad rubbish!!!”
Adegbemile did not allow the matter to rest before he responded to his former boss.
He wrote: “With this, you have just confirmed my assertion that you are not mourning the demise of Aketi. Res ipsa loquitur!
“Your request for money from the company was what made the project to be referred to Mr. Governor who later transferred the project to the Ministry of Agriculture without your knowledge and this got you infuriated.
“Surprisingly, you later went behind to write to the company to give the project to Betty Anyanwu Akeredolu Foundation and which was rejected. This was my offence!
“Did you not ask me to be paying a certain sum of money from my salary into a designated bank account every month for according to you, “ helping me to secure an appointment?”
“Remember that I refused to make the payment because I was never part of the people you brought from Imo State to secure appointments after my struggle with Aketi since 2012? This was my offence!
“Did you not threaten me that my failure to pay the money would make you do everything possible to exclude me from Aketi’s second term?
“Remember that unlike some individuals, I did not come kneeling and prostrating before you. Rather, I returned into my legal practice.
“Did the Governor not declare your “not cooperating” Wole (Chief Protocol Officer) wanted because of the fraud running into millions of naira committed by him under your watch after I left the Government in 2021?
“Did you not challenge me to stop Ondo State people from coming to the Government House to request assistance from your office? Remember, I told you that we were in government because of them. This was my offence!
“I challenge you to mention just ONE financial fraud committed by me while serving as an appointee in your office.
“I challenge you to give ONE instance when I failed to discharge my responsibility whenever assigned by you,” Adegbemile stated.

Ogun LG Polls, Peaceful, Orderly

Feranmi Daniel, Abeokuta
The ongoing local government polls in Ogun State got off to a good start on Saturday. This newspaper can exclusively report.
Election into chairmanship and councillorship positions are currently ongoing in the 20 local government councils of the state, with the major political parties, including the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP) and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) saying that they will have a good showing.
In the polling units surveyed in major cities such as Abeokuta, the state capital; Ijebu Ode, Sagamu, Ota and Ilaro, election materials arrived on schedule even as voters expressed confidence that the exercise would be concluded without any hassles.
Findings by reporters across the state have not shown any incident of voter harassment or ballot box snatching so far.
This contradicts the false alarm raised by a major opposition party in the state to the effect that the election has been bedevilled by violence.
Some voters, however, complained of late arrival of materials even as officials of the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) interviewed across the state said materials have reached all polling units in the State and they expected voters to come out in large numbers and exercise their franchise.
